The three year Diploma Course is designed to for those students who are to be ordained priests but who do not wish to obtain a baccalaureus in theology. Applicants must have successfully completed a two year seminary course in philosophy from a recognized seminary or institution.
Non-clerical students may be admitted to this course provided they have a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized university.
They have to complete a total of 141 credits of the STB programme of which 120 will be Basics and 21 Optionals. Clerical students have to obtain an additional 15 credits of pastoral coursed offered in the fourth year of theology.
Students who apply for a Two Year Diploma should have at least a Pre-university (10+2) certificate or its equivalent.
The student will complete a minimum of 91 credits. Of these, 4 credits will be assigned to a theological essay of 30-40 pages to be written in the second year. Its guide shall be chosen from among the resident teaching staff of the faculty in consultation with the animator. For the remaining 87 credits, besides following the basic courses given below (72) the student may choose other Basic or Optional courses ( 5 or more courses) that are important to his or her needs after consultation with the Animator and the approval of the Dean

1) They are those who register for one or more courses and fulfill the requirements set by the teacher concerned. For the admission of guest students, the Dean judges if they have the required qualifications or preparation for the courses they intend to attend.
2) When there is a limit to the number of students admitted to a specific course or programme, preference will be given to the regular students over guest students.
3)Guest Students who have completed a given number of Courses are entitled to an attestation, signed by the Registrar, listing the Courses done, provided they have fulfilled all the Course requirements, including the prescribed examinations or evaluations.
4)At the beginning of the year, Guest Students should prepare a list of Courses they would like to attend, get it approved by the Dean, and give a copy of it to the JD Office.
Jnana Deepa offers a one-year Diploma Course in Theology entitled “The Challenge of Being a Christian Woman/Consecrated Woman in India Today”. Students should have at least a pre-degree and a good knowledge of English. Since many belonging to different Religious Congregations opt for this course every year, the entire course aims at equipping them with adequate theological knowledge and pastoral skills required for their consecrated life and apostolate.
