Inter-class Football Tournament

5th - 9th August, 2024  - Football Ground

The Inter-class Football Tournament was held for the students of JD, on the Papal Football Ground from August 5 - 9, 2024. A total of 7 classes participated in this tournament. The tournament was divided into two pools with a league system. The tournament commenced with an opening ceremony on August 5 at 4.00 pm, graced by Mr. Sursan Dungdung as the chief guest. The following few days were filled with a lot of sporting activity. Seven teams competed against one another to win the coveted cup. Even the spectators were enthusiastic about this sporting event. The final match on August 9 was preceded by a short program with Fr. Dayal Lakra, the Superior of DNC, as the chief guest. In the thrilling final, between the III Theo. & the Deacons, the III Theo. secured a victory, claiming their third Football Tournament title at Jnana Deepa. This historic win marked a hat-trick for III Theo. The tournament not only fostered a competitive spirit but also strengthened camaraderie among students, making it a truly enriching event for the entire Jnana Deepa institution.

 

Basketball Tournament

The Cultural Wing and JD Student Council successfully organized the Inter-Class Basketball Tournament 2025 from February 10th to 14th at the DNC New Basketball Court. The event was well-structured and executed smoothly.

Six teams took part in the tournament. PG block students formed one team and I Philo, while the others were II Philo, III Philo, I Theo, II Theo, and III Theo. The teams were split into two groups and played in a league format. Matches had four 7-minute quarters, except for the semi-finals and finals, which had four 10-minute quarters. Each team had 15 players, a manager, and a coach. 

The tournament kicked off with an opening ceremony on February 10, Dr. Dolichan Kollareth, President of Jnana Deepa, graced the event as the chief guest. 

III Philo claimed the championship title after a hard-fought match, winning against I Theo by just 2 points. This victory was historic as it marked the Philosophers' first championship in years.
