The first set of competitions, namely, poetry writing, and essay writing were conducted in August. The theme for the essay competition was ‘The great divide: Rich and Poor in India.’ and for Poetry competition was ‘World Peace: An Impossible Dream?’. These competitions received an overwhelming response of 73 entries with 34 Essays and 39 Poems. In all, the competitions were a success.
Later Collage competition and Photography contest were organized in September. The Collage competition titled "Shattered Silence, Stripped Justice" and the Photography contest themed "Reflection - the Parallel World". The collage competition had online & spot registrations, bringing a total of 16 participating groups. The photography competition saw an enthusiastic participation of numerous students, each contributing their creativity and talent to the event. Around 60 participants showcased their ability to convey powerful messages through visual storytelling. The competitions were a great success, with every group showcasing their unique creativity and interpretation of the theme.
Then in February the Literary Wing organized a reel-making competition titled Campus Grooves – Show Us Your Moves. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over twelve teams, each consisting of three members from various classes across the faculties of Philosophy and Theology. The competition showcased remarkable creativity and innovation. Participants demonstrated their talents in dance, videography, and storytelling, making the event both entertaining and inspiring. Some reels took viewers on an exploration of lesser-known areas of the campus, providing a fresh perspective on the institute’s surroundings. The judging panel ensured fairness and transparency in the evaluation process. The criteria for assessment included originality, creativity, relevance to the theme, technical quality, and overall impact. The high standard of submissions made the competition a challenging yet rewarding experience for both participants and judges. Overall, the event was a resounding success, highlighting the artistic talents and creative storytelling abilities of the students. It also fostered a spirit of collaboration and engagement within the campus community.
The last event of JD Literary Wing's debate competition on February 21st, 2025, was a resounding success, featuring five stimulating topics that ignited passionate arguments among the four participating groups: 1st and 2nd STB, and 2nd and 3rd BPh. Meticulously planned, organised and smoothly executed under the Literary Wing, the event showcased the students' dedication and intellectual prowess, with Fr. Suhas Pereira OFM and Fr. Jijo OCD serving as esteemed judges. After a hiatus of several years, the competition made a comeback and was met with a warm and enthusiastic response from both participants and audience members alike. After a fierce competition, 1st STB claimed first prize, followed by 2nd STB in second place marking an end to a memorable day of learning and spirited discussion.
